Designs For "Jumpstart Languages"
Turn-around of Paloma, a burro host character representing the Spanish language.
Various German characters.  Later on the decision was made to cut German language from the product.
Promotional image of four of the house characters, in the costumes of different countries.
Various Japanese characters.
I was hoping they would choose the bobtailed cat for the Japanese Host.

But I think I made the eyes a little too cat-like.  Know Thy Audience.

A Turn-around of the Monkey host character, representing Japan.
Different non-final versions of the Burro character.
A Turn-around of the raccoon host character, representing America.
A British Beefeater lion was briefly considered to represent the English language.  Not used.
Many rough raccoon sketches and finals.
Various Russian characters.  The Russian language was not in the final product.
Many types of animals were explored for the Spanish character.  I was leaning towards the Caracara, myself.
I even provided a color sample, but it was a no-go.  They liked the burro more.

Designs for Jumpstart First Grade 2002

First conceptual sketches of "Jimmy Bumples", the game's main antagonist weasel, and his rat sidekick, "Skid".
At first they thought it would be a good idea to have Frankie's nemesis be another dog.  So I chose various breeds known for scrappiness.
The final rough turn-around for Jimmy Bumples.
The final rough turn-around for Skid.
A rough incomplete turn-around of Frankie's little cousin, Squirt.
An inked Squirt.
A rough storyboard for the intro movie. Jimmy was mean and pushed Squirt, causing Squirt to fall and break his scooter.

Designs for Miscellaneous Jumpstart Projects

Just for fun, I drew some artists whose work I admire in the Jumpstart style.
It's a Jumpstart style wolf.  Maybe he could teach kids about nature.

His 'friend' is just a brutish doodle.  I doodle a lot at meetings.

Jumpstart squirrels?  Sure, why not.
We can do Jumpstart Beavers, too.  You pick any species, I can make it cute.  :)
Frankie receives a mysterious package.  This was going to be a scene in the new film that will be in front of ALL Jumpstart games....but it's not anymore.  That film will be a lot simpler and shorter.
Some Jumpstart characters, done in a prehistoric style.  Ugga-ugg!
